An excellent growth of 48 percent and turnover of Rs 160 crore puts them well
ahead of the others in the Silver Club listing for solutions providers
Softcell Technologies reported a growth of 48 percent with a total turnover
of Rs 160 crore for the year 2005-06. In the previous year the company achieved
a turnover of Rs 108 crore.
JFM was the best quarter for Softcell, which amounted to almost 40 percent of
its turnover for the year 2005-06. About 38 percent of the company's business
came from the West region, while South contributed around 41 percent to its
total revenue.
While the company has done very well with a growth of 48 percent, the company
is expecting a growth of only 25 percent for the current financial year.
However, what make this significant is its intention to achieve the same

Becoming a Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR) paid off handsomely for
Softcell. Microsoft contributed half its revenue by dealing directly with
Softcell.
The company also cashed in on its status as an IBM Premier Partner. Even the
Symantec-Veritas and Adobe-Macromedia mergers proved beneficial. Security was a
key focus in terms of value business.
SME/SMB as customer segment contributes around 30 percent to their total
business. However, Banking and Financial Service Industries (BFSI) remained the
biggest contributors to Softcell. 35 percent of its revenue is coming in from
this segment. Other customer verticals that Softcell coverd a little bit are IT/ITeS/telecom
and systems integrators.
During the year, the employee strength of Softcell increased from 180 in the
year 2004-05 to 225 in 2005-06. The company is planning to add another 25 in the
current financial year.
One significant collaboration came in the form of a tie-up with Software
Spectrum, which it signed to support its global clients in India. Apart from all
the Microsoft business that contributes a major portion of Softcell's revenue,
the company also focused on its core competence of servicing licensing
requirement of the customers and to support them as well.
