With the objective of creating an interactive platform for Sony and its
prominent dealers in New Delhi, the Park Group organized a 'Sony Dealer meet'
where partners put forth their issues of concern. "As a sub-distributor of
Sony, we keep interacting with the vendor but resellers never get a chance to
meet them owing to their busy schedules. This meet provides a platform for
dealers and vendors to meet in person and raise any issue they might have,"
remarked Ajaya Kumar, CMD, Park Group.

Raising the issue of winning customer satisfaction on the price point,
channel partners said that Sony should offer the products to resellers at dealer
price. Currently it is being offered at street price because of which partners
are unable to negotiate with the customers on giving discount.

"We do not have any complaint about the pricing of Sony products but
when a customer walks-in he looks for more discounts on the MRP which we are
unable to provide because that is the actual price. Other brands like HP mention
a higher MRP than the actual price, so we give him discount on our end,"
said Sunil Gupta, MD, Alsun Systems.

While interacting with dealers, Sony shared sales guidelines and their
upcoming marketing strategies with the dealers and gave them tips to promote
VAIO series among customers. "We are ready to offer sales and marketing
help to the channel to boost the sale of VAIO series in the market. We have also
rolled out a program to train the front end sales team of dealers,"
remarked Suyash Singh, Territory sales incharge, Sales and Marketing Division,
Sony India.
