Sony to launch network security cameras

New Delhi: Sony has announced that it will launch high-definition (HD) pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) IP network security cameras in October 2009. The SNC-RH124 and SNC-RH164 models have been created with 10x optical zoom resulting in increased clarity and visibility as well as the ability to pan 360 degrees while capturing and streaming HD video using the H.264 video compression technology at up to 30 frames per second.

The H.264 technology also enables the transmission and storage of digital video using less bandwidth than previous video compression solutions.

“The new HD PTZ cameras are fitted with advanced features that are designed to help the industry transit from standard-definition to high-definition operations,” said Yoshikazu Hirano, GM-Business and Professional Products, Sony Asia-Pacific.

“The ability to transmit HD video using advanced video compression signals, combined with these camera features, gives users added flexibility to deploy HD cameras into a growing number of industries and applications,” he added.
