SP Summit Day 2: Prasad Dhas from Avnet Technologies embraces the new IT era

Expanding horizan from cloud computing, Prasad Dhas, specialist -solution sales, Avnet Technologies, addressed the audience on the aspects of transitioning into the new IT era with VMware.

Dhas started off with the company's recent achievements and headed straight to explaining the evolution of IT from mainframe computers to virtual/ cloud computing era. He further elaborated on how the industry overall has matured from being reactive to proactive.

Going ahead, Dhas explained how the emerging technologies are affecting top-to-bottom transformation and its direct impact on IT infrastructure. Dhas said, "Currently, up to 60% of workload is virtualized but in future almost 90% will be running on virtualized environment. Also, the time to provision services will drop from hours/ days to minutes/ seconds in the coming times."

Dhas further explained the concept of software defined datacenter wherein all infrastructure is virtualized and delivered as a service, and its control is entirely automated by software. He also highlighted the solutions offered by the sponsor vendor called VCloud Suite.
