Spain based Panda sets shop in India

Panda Software, a software solution company based out of Spain, has recently set up its India office. The company was present earlier in India through a single reseller partner in Chennai catering to specific orders. However, now it is aggressively marketing its products and has expanded its productline offering an array of solutions for both corporate and home users.

The company is targeting the growing Linux market in India with its latest suite of antivirus solutions. "We are looking forward to penetrate the Linux market in India as we see tremendous growth potential in this segment since not many competitors are there", says Manuj Kumar, Country Sales Manager, Panda Software. 

The USP of the Panda antivirus solution according to Manuj is the daily updates it provides to users. "The daily updates we provide and the support infrastructure Panda has is what differentiates our product from the competitors," informs
Manuj.

The company is garnering extensive channel support for the launch of the new solution. It has appointed 14 resellers in all the major cities of the country including Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Coimbatore and is presently on the look out for appointing partners in Bangalore. "We have appointed a select few channel partners in the initial stage, however, depending on the response we get from these areas, we may even go on to appoint a nationwide distributor for the Panda products in India," says
Manuj.

The company is also in the process of expanding its base to upcountry markets in India. "We are in talks with resellers in Jaipur, Himachal, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, "explains
Manuj.

As a roadmap, the company plans to foray into OEM tie-ups in future and expand its product line in India. Panda, which set up its office in India in April 2004 with the Bird group as its country partner, is yet to announce the formal launch of its products. However, according to Manuj, the products are readily available in the market through the resellers for corporate clients. "The box along with solution however, is going to be available in another 20 days or so," informs Manuj.
