To provide the SOHO segment with a combination of data protection and anti-virus solutions, Stellar Information Systems has launched Stellar Black Cat twin protection solution. The company is planning to take the channel route to push the product in the market.

Stellar will be following a twin-tier distribution model to sell the products. While tier-1 will includes regional distributors, tier-2 would comprise reseller partners appointed by the regional distributors. Stellar is looking to have close to 20 partners in tier-1 and has already appointed regional distributors in Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi and UP. It further plans to appoint regional distributors in Gujarat, Hyderabad and Chennai.

Talking about the USP of the product, Sunil Chandna, CEO, Stellar Information Systems mentioned that Black Cat provides features like lost data recovery, data recovery from formatted drives, data recovery from deleted partition, recovery after software malfunction and also recovers deleted files and folders among others.

Talking about the distribution model Chandna stated, “Until now, we were selling products solely to the corporate and large enterprises, but for the Black Cat twin protection solution, we have created an entirely new distribution model. Since the solution is designed specifically for the SOHO and the SME segment, we decided to take the channel route as they understand the needs of the customers better and are in a position to offer them value-added services as well.”

Elaborating further, Chandna stated that a major portion of the Stellar’s revenues comes from the corporate sector. However, the company now believes that the SOHO segment too is prepared for the future disasters. Besides, while concerned about the loss of data, these companies and end-consumers also take into account the costs associated to it.

The launch of Black Cat also marks the foray of Stellar into SOHO segment and the company is looking at appointing close to 500 reseller partners for the same. “We expect to sell 1,000 units this year and initially we will observe the market. Since the license can be availed at a reasonable price of Rs 950 and comes with a guarantee of one-year, we are expecting a good response to it,” stated Chandna.
