Supertron takes over Vintron brand

Kolkata-based distributor Supertron Electronics has taken over the once-popular Vintron brand. Supertron has brought into its fold Vintron's PC manufacturing line, significant marketing personnel as well as the ownership of the 'Vintron' brand. 

Giving more details about this development, VK Bhandari, Director, Supertron Electronics says, "As a company, Vintron was nearly going defunct. However, they continued to enjoy a strong brand-pull among end-customers for their PC range. This is why we decided to take over their PC business, to establish Supertron as a truly national PC player." 

According to Bhandari, Vintron's Director of Operations, Vibhor Agrawal, has joined Supertron as marketing director to look after the Vintron PC business. "This way, the customer interface remains the same as buyers identify with Vibhor very well," remarks he. Supertron has also taken over three offices of Vintron. Bhandari informs that after-sales support issues would be looked into by the same service arm of Vintron, which used to provide support earlier. 

Setting aside apprehensions about the future of Supertron's own brand, Supercomp, Bhandari adds that the company would arrive at a sound positioning strategy soon. "If we see a cannibalization happening, we might position Vintron for corporate customers and Supercomp for the home segment," suggests he. 

He also feels that Vintron PCs would start yielding business almost instantly after the takeover because of its strong recall. Supertron would gradually sell Vintron servers and notebooks as well, but will not revive its distribution business. 

Bhandari also assures that Vintron has cleared all its dues in the market to partners and hence there is no need for the channel community to see this development with concern.
