Supreme Computers forays into projector biz

Chennai-based sub-distributor Supreme Computers has entered into projector
distribution. The recent tie-up with NEC has further strengthened this focus for
Supreme, which earlier started distributing the Sony range of LCD projectors.
Till date, the company has been dealing with computer peripherals and
consumables.

"We have added projectors into our product portfolio. Our customers can
get a complete range of Sony LCD projectors and NEC range of DLP projectors from
us," said Rakesh Jain, CEO, Supreme Computers.

Supreme has also appointed an exclusive three-member team for the
distribution of this range of products in Tamil Nadu. "This team would be
taking care of all the operations exclusively for both LCD and DLP range of
products. Depending on the need, we might also consider expanding the
team," Jain informed. The company is also planning to add more
projector-related products into their product portfolio.

Jain cited the growing audiovisual market as the reason behind taking up the
distribution of projectors business. "The growth is more in the audiovisual
segment than in hardware. So we thought it would be the ideal time for us to
foray into the projectors division," Jain claimed.

Supreme has also expanded to Madurai this year and already has an office at
Coimbatore. "We have physically expanded into Madurai exclusively for the
Sony range of products to strengthen our upcountry operations," he said.

He totally denied the fact that the present focus of Supreme would be
completely on projectors. "This is just an added vertical for us and we
would continue to focus on other products that we are dealing since years,"
Jain averred. Supreme has grown at 29 percent during the last fiscal 07-08,
where they managed to earn a revenue of Rs 78 crore compared to Rs 60 crore last
year.
