Kolkata-based Syntech Informatics launched its Syntech brand of PCs and
laptops in the Eastern market today. The launch took place at the Compass
exposition, which took off at Kolkata. Syntech is sourcing these products from
an OEM manufacturer in Shanghai, running it through a series of quality checks
and then offering it to customers.
All these products are Intel based, as Syntech is an Intel Premier Partner.
The PCs are available from Rs 15,000 to Rs 32,000 while the laptops cost from Rs
40,000 to Rs 55,000. The company hopes to sell at least 1,000 desktops and 300
laptops in the first three months.
Interestingly, since Syntech has introduced its own brand of PCs and
desktops, it will gradually stop selling IBM's range of these machines.
Currently, IBM contributes almost 40% of Syntech's revenues, but Syntech
maintains that phasing out this IT major will not affect overall business in the
future. "We are going to go for a lateral expansion shortly and once our
brand becomes national, sales will get a fillip," said Dilip Banerjee,
Director-Marketing, Syntech Informatics. The company will introduce its products
in Delhi by May and in Mumbai by June this year.
"We are leveraging on our vast support setup to promote our
products," Dilip added. "We are already maintaining over 12,000 PCs
for our customers in the region and we offer a 24 hour turnaround time. We want
to replicate this in for our newly launched products as well," Milon
Chakravarty, MD, Syntech.
It is also working on educating customers about the technical aspects of the
machines, so that they can resolve minor problems themselves, with the help of
its telephonic helpdesk. It is also packing several utilities and software
applications with the machines in this effort to self-solve problem areas.
