TAIT and Microsoft join hands against piracy

In an effort to discourage the use of pirated software TAIT and Microsoft
came together to organize a special seminar in Mumbai on the 7th of March.
During the event, representatives from Microsoft made presentations that
highlighted the advantages of using genuine software and also urged partners to
stop illegal hard disk loading and software piracy in any form.

TAIT made it clear that it wants to ensure that partners are able to make
additional revenues by selling genuine software and graduate to becoming
solutions providers. The meet according to the Association was a move to
encourage members to look at this new opportunity and add a wide range of
products to their current offerings.

Making his presentation, Brian Campbell, Director Genuine Software
Initiative, Microsoft India highlighted the initiatives that Microsoft is taking
in India to stop piracy. He also showed statistics to show how piracy affects
the Indian economy adversely and threw light upon Microsoft's current
anti-piracy campaigns running in India.

Chandan, head OEM sales, Microsoft India pointed out that his company runs
many incentive schemes and backend schemes to ensure that channels made money
from sales of Microsoft software. According to him, channels can have a very
healthy bottomline if they leveraged Microsoft's marketing strengths.

Satish Pokhriyal, Head Legal and Corporate Affairs, Microsoft India mentioned
that Microsoft would love to engage with TAIT and encourage partners to desist
from piracy. He said that Microsoft would continually monitor the piracy levels
and work with TAIT to take steps to bring down piracy levels in Mumbai.
