TAIT collects donations for flood affected employees

Following the devastation wrecked by the recent floods in Mumbai, Trade Association of IT
(TAIT) is spearheading a relief fund for the employees of IT channel partners in the region. The association is organizing donation collection from channel partners across Maharashtra and surrounding regions. 

Speaking about the initiative, Umang Mehta, Spokesperson, TAIT said, “We have already started receiving donations from across the city. In fact, we have also received some cheques from outside the city- the interiors of
Maharashtra. The association has pledged to collect Rs 25 lakh corpus for the rehabilitation activities.” 

All donations received by TAIT will be eligible for deductions under 80G of Income tax Act. The TAIT committee is highly committed to the cause. “We have open collection centers at the office of SK
Impex, Bell Computronics, Modera, Radiant Computer Technologies, The Best, Futech Computers,
Ortek, Spectrum, Jay Dee Electronics, Systematics Infotech, Computer Corner and TAIT office,” said
Umang. 

The association has sent out the appeal to all channel partners, delineating the projects TAIT will undertake for rehabilitating these employees. These include, providing employees' families with kitchenware items, schooling material, clothes and mattresses. To avail of help from this relief fund, channel partners need to send an application to
TAIT. The association will then verify the details and act accordingly. 

TAIT has not fixed any minimum amount for the donations. Umang said, “We are in receipt of donation cheques ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 1
lakh. Some partners have even raised money from their employees to support the needy.” 

The progress of this initiative will be updated on the TAIT website. The names of all the donors would also be published on the website. When asked whether TAIT has got any help from the other associations, he said, “We have approached some associations in other cities, but so far we have not received any response.” 

Besides the above initiative, soon after the flood, TAIT forwarded a letter to all members of the IT community. The letter included request for additional credit of 10 days for affected partners, extension of target deadline by 10 days, replacement of highly damaged goods at subsidized rates and provision of empty product packing for damaged goods.
