Tandberg appoints Select as authorized distributor

Information storage products manufacturer Tandberg's Asian subsidiary, TD Asia, has appointed Select Technologies as its authorized distributor in
India. With this, Tandberg aims to promote its backup storage solutions across the metros and major cities of the country. 

"Both Select Technologies and Tandberg share the core competence of offering storage and security solutions and we
decided to utilize this synergy, " says Tandberg Data South and West Asia's Sales Director, Ashok Kumar.

Tandberg aims to expand its reach in India with this move. Indian accounts for 40% of Tandberg's business in the APac region (excluding Japan
and Korea). The company earned $5.5 million in revenues from India and plans to grow to $9.5 million this year.

"While the APac market accounts of 12% to 13% of Tandberg's world market, India and China are the biggest potential
markets for us," adds Tandberg Data-Asia's MD, Raymond Kang Yong Guan. 

Tandberg signed up a strategic VAR agreement with CMC in April 2004. It offers professional tape information storage
products based on the SLR, DLT and LTO Utrium technology platforms. The company offers secondary storage
products based on tape drives, autoloaders, libraries, media, high performance storage solutions including NAS.
