To cash in on the retailing boom that is sweeping the country, Delhi-based
solutions providing firm Team Computers has ventured into selling solutions for
retail vertical. This move, the company claims is in keeping with the current
market dynamics that has made retailing an integral part of buying and selling.
Apart from retail from next quarter onwards Team plans to expand in healthcare
and insurance sectors as well.
In order to provide better service to its retail space customers, Team has
also joined forces with Iceland-based Landsteinar Strengur (represented in India
by Dynamic Vertical Solutions), a company providing business application
solutions (ERP) for retail and hospitality segments. Landsteinar Strengur's
'LS Retail' suite is an end-to-end retail solution that covers everything

| RANJAN CHOPRA: Plans to expand in healthcare and insurance sectors as well |
Giving details about the rationale behind Team Computers including solutions
for retail vertical to its portfolio Ranjan Chopra, CEO, Team Computers said,
“Since retail will be the future of Indian market and it is here to stay, I
think we have entered the right domain at the right time, which will pay off in
the times to come. Today, shopping has taken the hue of a pleasant experience
rather than being a compulsion. People now look forward to shopping as a good
timepass. I believe that IT could really make retail shopping a pleasurable
experience. So far, we have been supplying only hardware platforms to some
retail customers, but from now onwards we will be in a position to offer them an
entire suite of customized solutions ranging from supply chain management,
merchandizing management, RFID solutions to digital signage for their retail
shop fronts.”
From its latest foray into retailing solutions arena Team anticipates to
garner revenues to the tune of Rs 10 crores during the fiscal year 2006-07. To
begin with Team will target metro towns in addition to some other cities that
have specific business clusters. Chopra quipped, “In the beginning we will not
vie to target very big clientele, and we will approach mid-sized retail chains
like Vishal Megamart and others, who yearn for value for money products.”
Commenting on the reason behind Team's decision of targeting retail clients of
slightly low stature Chopra added, “The retail solutions that we have in our
suite of offerings are best in class and very cost effective and could be rolled
out speedily. We want to concept sell these solutions like a Mercedes but at the
price of a Zen.”
Team will also initiate retail store-cum-demo centers in line with that of
Wipro's 'Shop Talk' concept store at Bangalore, where retail customers
could see in action solutions suitable for retailing environment. Team's
concept store tentatively will be based out either in Delhi or Gurgaon.
