After completing
graduation from BITS Pilani in December 1984 as an instrumentation
engineer, Jaipur based Kailash Gupta
established ETSC Computers, formerly known as Electronics Trade &
Service Center (ETSC) in the year 1985. He started his business
operations with a mere capital investment of Rs 50,000,
out of which Rs 20,000 was saved from his first service tenure at New
Engineering Enterprises, where he worked as a R&D engineer. ETSC
began his operations catering to service requirements of various
electronic/industrial equipments in several pharmaceutical/industrial
units in Rajasthan. Later in 1987, after having established in this
segment as well as in the government vertical, the company started
omputer Literacy and Studies in Schools (CLASS) project and
diversified into education segment for sales and services. In the
year 1991, ETSC made a jump in its sales strategy by partnering with
Wipro as an exclusive distributor for its peripherals range and
services in entire Rajasthan. This helped ETSC build an image of an
authorized Wipro vendor in Rajasthan, thus capturing major customer
base.
Since 1995, ETSC has been
expanding its product portfolio by strategic sourcing and tie-ups
with various distributors and vendors. Moreover in the same year, the
company consolidated its business and therefore, ETSC was
rechristened as ETSC Computers.
CHALLENGES

The biggest challenge for
the company in the beginning was to establish itself in the industry,
as there was a lack of market understanding, products, and services
at that point of time. “Thanks to the guidance of my brother, who
was already an established businessman, my initial introduction to his
clients really
helped in building on to the challenges,” recalls Kailash Gupta,
director, ETSC Computers.

The current turnover of
ETSC is Rs 2.5 crore. The company is planning to increase its
customers base for its complete
range of products and solutions. It has plans to focus on SMB,
education, and security and storage segments with focus on solutions.
One of the major projects, which company took recently was the
delivery and integration of more than 2,000 billing printers to the
agro-dairy sector within 6 months.
Looking at its current business, the company is into the business of
providing complete IT solutions to SMB, corporate, govt and education
segments. It has major collaborations with vendors like Wipro, HP,
IBM, WeP, Epson, Microsoft, Cisco, etc, for its entire range of
products and solutions. For Gupta, the key milestone of his company
is getting recognized from principle vendors at various occasions.
ETSC Computers follows ethical business practices with utmost clarity
on pre- and post-sales commitments. “We believe in providing value
to customers and the same is incorporated in our functions at all
