Theft in Ludhiana

A series of thefts have taken place in different showrooms of Ludhiana
recently. The latest victim was the retail outlet of Annex Computers, which was
targeted by burglars, who fled with three laptops, LCDs and printers of brands
like HCL, Toshiba and Compaq. The items were worth Rs 2 lakh. The serial numbers
of laptops are Toshiba-77077366R, HCL  9074AX086708, and Compaq-2C372604CS.

“When I came to open my office last Monday, the shutter of the store was open
with locks broken. Inside, the products were scattered, and three laptops and
few other items were missing,” said Amit Malhotra, Proprietor of Annex
Computers. Malhotra denied the involvement of any of his office employees or
known person in the incident.

In yet another theft in Ludhiana, the office-cum-retail outlet of Secant
Technologies was burgled and the thieves fled with four laptops, four printers
and other accessories amounting to a total loss of Rs 2.5 lakh. The products
were of HP and Compaq brand. Paramjit Singh Juneja, Proprietor of Secant
Technologies opined that he suspected the involvement of the same group that was
responsible for the theft in the other stores. “It is suspected that the
incident took place early morning around 4am and due to a shortage of time, the
thieves could not take more laptops. Observing this case and that of Annex
Computers, which was also targeted by the burglars, it seems the thieves were
most interested in stealing laptops,” shared Juneja.
