TITA expo ends on a high note

Tirupur: For the first time, the Tirupur Information Technology Association (TITA) conducted a three-day IT expo from July 24-26. The event was inaugurated by the District's Superintendent of Police, S Shanthi.

The event saw a footfall of 22,000 visitors and generated business worth over Rs 50 lakh, according to Babu, Secretary, TITA. Airtel, Epson, Canon and Samsung participated in the expo through direct stalls.

Arun, CEO, Sunway Computers said, “We had a stall featuring BSNL Nova netPC. On the first day, we received 22 orders. On the second day it went up to 70 and more than 100 on the final day. This event was most beneficial to us.”

Arangasamy, one of the partners of Universys, revealed that the company had bagged orders to install surveillance cameras across Tirupur. “Now, we have business for the next six months,” he mentioned. Universys has installed video surveillance systems across Thiruvannamalai, Vellore and Kanchipuram successfully.

“There was excellent response for us at the expo. We sold 20 laptops and 30 desktops, and got more than 200 inquiries. Our sales people are working on fulfilling these orders,” mentioned Prateesh of Phoenix Infoway.

Yet another happy seller is Saravana Kumar of Maruti Info System who said, “We focused on HCL and Wipro; together we sold more than 40 systems and got lot of inquiries.”

Buoyed by this response Ravichandran, President, TITA, mentioned, “The response we got was certainly more than expected. Every participant is happy and has profited from being a part of this expo. I believe now people of Tirupur are well informed that all the latest IT products are available in the city itself.”

However, few of the participants opined that the preparatory work should have been started few days in advance. But nevertheless, they mentioned that within a short period the association has done a commendable job.
