SILVER CLUB RANK (2010-11): 15
FY 2011 did not make anywhere near the
growth expectations of Compage, mainly owing to the political turmoil
in Andhra Pradesh where it had four branches in Hyderabad and
Secunderabad, as well as in Vizag, Kurnool and Vijaywada. It garnered
maximum revenue through its partnership with Dell while HP
contributed 5% with Sony Laptops, Intel, Seagate together accounting
for another 10%. It also entered into an exclusive distribution
tie-up with Chennai-based security vendor K7 Computing. There were
newer relationships too-it was appointed as a sub-distributor by
Cyberstar Infocom for Panda Security; Eagle Computers also forged a
partnership for its laptop accessories. This retail giant also
expanded its vision and presence in Banjara Hills and Kukatpalli.
Shrinking margins and continuing agitations were the biggest
challenge for Compage, which has partnered with all the leading
vendors except Sony till FY11.
However, Sony too started partnering
with Compage during the last fiscal. The growth from the distribution
business of Dell, and turning as the regional distributor of Intel
and Seagate were some of the significant steps of the company during
the previous fiscal. Most business emerged out of the needs from
household and SMEs. Despite
fighting against many odds amidst the current political turbulence in
Hyderabad, Compage is still planning to set up new offices across
Andhra Pradesh. These include new retail outlets in Warangal and
Rajahmundry targeting SOHO customers.
