SILVER CLUB RANK (2010-11): 10
Dell and retail were the twin growth
catalysts for Datacare in FY11. Dell contributed 33% of the revenues
and Rs40 crore came from online business alone, through Dell Foods
and Croma BTO centers. Continuing its focus on retail through Dell
exclusive and HCL exclusive retails, Datacare intends to open
exclusive Samsung showrooms in Pune. FY11 also saw new operations
from Nagpur, Aurangabad, Nashik and Kolhapur and a service center for
Acer at Ratnagiri. One of the leading distributors for the western
region, Datacare Corporation also bagged a couple of distribution
rights from leading players in the market. Interestingly, the company
almost doubled its revenue from outsourced activities wherein in
FY11, it generated income worth Rs52 crore as compared to Rs24 crore
in FY10. However, the company still earned maximum from sales of
hardware and software. In the last financial year, the company's
revenue from reseller and dealer
business was Rs350 crore. As evident
from its new branches, western region still remains the primary
contributor with 83% of the overall revenue. In addition, a small 2%
comes from international markets. Having been focussed always on the
post-sales of products, Datacare also launched a warranty scheme in
March 2011 for its dealer community and customers. Initially, the
scheme included laptops only, though gradually they plan to bring
more products under the warranty too. Since, Datacare would bear the
actual cost of replacement without waiting for vendors, it increased
its branch offices and godowns across Maharashtra. Subsequently, its
partner base has increased by 600.
