SILVER CLUB RANK (2010-11): 17
Amidst all the concerns of crunching
margins and commoditization of networking products, Roop
Technologies, a 13-year-old Mumbai based distributor, still grew on
the back of laptops, security, networking and all-in-one desktops. On
a y-o-y basis, while laptops grew by 40% accounting for 30% revenues,
security and networking products grew 80-90% and together, they added
around 30% to the overall business. In the last 1 year, the company
partnered with Dell to introduce its all-in-one desktops and TP link
for its networking products. Not stopping here, Roop also expanded
its product portfolio by bringing in Philips, TP Link and Zicom to
its kitty. It is betting big on Philips keyboards and mouse sets and
Zicom CCTVs in the coming year.
For Roop Technologies, laptops though
in FY11 accounted for 30% of overall revenue and this business grew
on a y-o-y basis by 40%. In addition, security and networking
products added another 30% to the entire earnings wherein this
segment grew significantly by 80-90%. The company's 100% revenue
comes from the domestic market. The company established a base of
more than 2,000 partners across the country, with a very strong
network of over 850 partners in the West and South India. The
distribution firm caters to the requirements of B and C-class cities
with a fairly good marketshare. As part of
its market strategy, the distributor is closely working with both
large and small format retailers. Further, the company has plans to
appoint 1,000 channel partners by the end of this fiscal. The company
also plans to open more branches in the coming months.
