Modi Peripheral,
rechristened to Modi Infosol in FY11, is one of the leading
distributors of HP and Microsoft in Delhi. The company broadened its
sub-distribution portfolio. In addition to IT brands, the company
also forayed into telecom and retail segment. Of late, it signed up
partnerships with major mobile handset companies and set up a
separate telecom channel. It also formed an alliance with Asus,
Ricoh, Acer, Motorola, Philips, Viewsonic, and Samsung. Currently,
its telecom business is contributing Rs 2 crore every month.

Moreover, for retail
business, the company formed a separate company under the name of New
Age Techsol. In the telecom space, Modi added Acer tablets and
smartphones, followed by Motorola mobile, Philips mobile, and
Viewsonic tablets. In the IT business, the company added Asus
notebook and netbook and entrylevel Ricoh printers. However, the
company discontinued its alliance with Toshiba laptops.

To push its telecom sales,
it appointed 125 new telecom partners in Delhi. In Q4 FY11, the
company made its entry into retail by launching its first exclusive
outlet for telcom products. The company has also put in place an
aggressive retail push for FY12.
