Taipei-based Transcend is looking at the telecom segment in a big way to encourage its growth in the Indian subcontinent. The company has already partnered with some of the biggest large format retailers within the telecom space in India like, Reliance Digital, Croma, Staples (Mumbai and Bangalore) and The MobileStore etc.

“We are looking at the telecom segment in a very big way now. We understand that telecom channel community is always looking at adding value to their overall offerings. Our products are already being well accepted within the telecom channel community. Moving forward as we look at greater growth, we would be having a bigger focus to address this segment as we are going to launch new product range in India,” explained, Austin Huang, Sales Manager, Transcend Information.

In addition to aligning itself with large format retailers, the company is also working towards partnering with the service provider of India. “We are already working with Reliance and Vodafone in terms of placing our products like card readers or pen drives at their stores. India is a huge market for us. We are generating over $8 million every month from the Indian market and there is potential to grow this even further. Hence we are looking at telecom as a big focus for us in the near future and we would be partnering with some of the biggest service providers in India to make sure that our products reach the end customer in an easy and efficient manner,” he added.

At present, Transcend is represented by distributors like Redington, Mumbai-based Mediaman, Kolkata-based Supertron and Rahul Industries, Chennai-based Luminous and Delhi-based Intratech. Moving forward, the company is also looking at having a dedicated distributor for the photographic channel space.
