Transtek on an expansion spree

Cochin: Transtek Infoways has introduced SD micro cards, SD cards and CF cards in the market. The company has also begun focusing on pendrives and RAM. “With the increase in sale of cell phones, there is a growing demand for memory products. Also, we feel that the market is fit for pendrives now so that will also be a focus area for us,” commented Rajeev Sood, Director, Transtek Infoways. There was also an effort towards driving the sales of Genius keyboards and mice.

While adding these products, the distributor also expanded its partner network and opened CNF offices in B and C-class cities which, as Sood pointed out, is where the market is heading. “People who are associated with us are also moving towards B and C-class cities, so this is aiding our expansion into these regions,” said Sood.

While the economic slowdown and the dollar fluctuation were a damper on the business of the company which is primarily into importing, Transtek was able to sail through this situation by reducing its quandary and bringing prices slightly down. “We consolidated our operations and tightened costs which went a long way in ensuring our revenues,” he added.

Leveraging on its strength of distributing branded products, Transtek is looking at expanding its reach across the country. The company is primarily into OEM business and currently has no plans to start selling its own branded products. For the current fiscal, Transtek plans to focus on areas in India that till now it has seemingly neglected like East (Patna, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Kolkata) and West (Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat) markets. “These are fast growing markets that have so far been neglected by us, so we will focus on them. This business is all about best prices and supplying the right products in the market and that is what we are striving to achieve,” added Sood.
