UP reseller community forms statewide association

Taking different regional IT channel-focused associations to a bigger
platform, the reseller community of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has formed a statewide
association - Uttar Pradesh Computer Dealer Association (UPCDA). Resellers
from six cities of Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Bareilly and Gorakhpur
joined hands and formed UPCDA recently.

The new association is expected to provide them with a bigger platform to
address issues related to the channel´s trade in this region. Rohit Kohli of
Kanpur-based Comexcell Technologies has been unanimously elected as the
President of this association. Manish Mehrotra of Allahabad-based Tritech
Enterprises is the Secretary.

"We have taken all the present Presidents of Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi,
Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Allahabad into the executive body of this association.
Our primary objective is to create a business-friendly environment for the
channel community in this region and are confident of achieving it,"
informed Manish.

He also said that it is a very difficult task to have a common association
and yet have ease of co-ordination with all regions. Despite these difficulties,
it has been able to formulate this association. Moving forward, it will
channelize its energies towards dealing with issues related to billing and
back-payment related issues.

"We want to take this association further and give it a national flavor.
We have spoken to national associations like MAIT and within two months, we
would have the support of cities like Agra and Aligarh as well," he added.
The idea to form a statewide association was coined by resellers of this region
in June 2003. But ironically, the association could not be formed as there was a
lack of co-ordination among the vibrant channel community of the state.
