VCMDWA holds second expo this year

Summer Comp-ex, organized by Nagpur-based Vidarbha Computer and Media Dealer's
Welfare Association (VCMDWA), successfully concluded last week. The expo was
inaugurated by Prashant Ugemuge, President, VCMDWA. It was the first time the
associations conducted the expo during summers. Held from June 21-23, the event
witnessed a crowd of over 40,000-45,000 people from in and around Nagpur. There
were total of 24 participants and 44 stalls at the fair.

Speaking about the event, Ugemuge said, “This is the first time that we
have conducted our IT expo in summers. We are overwhelmed by the response and
the acceptance that Summer Comp-ex got from partners and vendors alike. With a
plethora of options to choose from, the expo gave partners in Nagpur and other
nearby regions a fair insight into the latest trends, technologies and products.
This also made it a great learning experience for the young and old alike.”

Asus was the main sponsor of the event and The DQ Week was the IT Media
Partner. Vendors such as HP, Dell, Microsoft, Intel, Canon, Samsung, D-Link,
Epson, Compaq, Intex, Asus, LG, Philips and BSNL showcased their products at the
expo.

“Summer Comp-ex was a great success for us and we are very interested in
taking this forward by making it an annual event. We would like to thank the
vendors and partners, who supported us throughout the event,” averred Virendra
Patrikar, Secretary, VCMDWA.

Aseem Gupta, Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corp attended the final day of
the expo. Datatronics and Silver Systems received cash prize of Rs 25,000 each
for the best stall. Responding to the tremendous enthusiasm shown by the various
stall owners, Ugemuge had announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh for the best stall
at the next Summer Comp-ex exhibition. “Everybody who participated in the expo
got a lot of business inquiries and good business opportunities. Partners and
vendors who had their stalls in this year's expo will get a 40 percent
discount in Comp-ex 2009 exhibition scheduled for January 2009,” he added.

“By organizing Summer Comp-ex, VCMDWA has achieved the distinction of
probably being the only organization in the entire country to organize two mega
IT expositions in one year. Aptly timed for students, Summer Comp-ex proved to
be an instant hit with the city's youth,” expressed Patrikar.

The expo also featured segments like home entertainment products with latest
stocks of 3D games, encyclopedias and tutors, software solutions, financial
accounting packages, telecommunication products, power back-up products, etc
apart from a wide range of computers and peripherals.
