Visesh Infotechnics : Taking No Chances

Last fiscal did not see much business activity within New Delhi Visesh
Infotechnics and the company posted a negative growth of four percent. While it
grappled to take stock of its call center operations and deal with reduced
margins, its international plans took a back seat.

Over 90 percent of the turnover came from IT solutions (SI), about five
percent from ITeS and the rest from enterprise software. The year saw status quo
being maintained, with not much happening on the business tie-ups or expansion.
There was not much activity on the international front either. Last year the
company focused on software, GPS and smart card sensors. Having lost out on the
recession-proof sectors, this year around Visesh has made a conscious decision
to focus on the government sector. And already the SP has made strides on this
front. It recently signed a deal with the Andhra Pradesh government for a smart
card project worth Rs 3.25 crore.

There was also some consolidation within the company. Measures were taken to
rationalize office space. With the closure of operations in domestic and
overseas market, a number of employees were either moved to other operations or
laid off.

With the exit of its erstwhile CEO, Sanjiv Bhavnani, the company will also
see the appointment of a new CEO this year. Targeting a turnover of Rs 140 crore
in 2009-10, Visesh plans to expand its capacity within India and enhance its
focus on the government sector.
