How was the company set up? What were the reason or objectives for setting it up?
Woxi Media was founded with a sharp focus on developing products and software platform that significantly increase internet consumption and monetization by enabling users to discover content and services in a radically simple way, while helping e-commerce partners to monetize their assets.
Countries like India have skipped the PC revolution in homes, and will leap-frog to post-PC era devices. With high affinity for TV in Indian households, we want to deliver a very easy to use, Consumer-Electronics grade Internet experience on TVs, without compromising flexibility and interactivity that the Internet offers. At the same time, enable the Internet ecosystem partners tools to monetize their assets.
To what extent have you managed to achieve those objectives?
We have been able to make some mark and have been recognized by Silicon India as the Top10 Internet Companies in the US in 2012 for ground breaking innovations of Woxi AppCasts cloud service, and Multi-user framework on Android. Consumers have given Woxi SmartPod 5* rating on online e-commerce sites, and respected publications like Chip are recommending SmartPod as the way to smarten your TV experience. We are pleased with the results and are always aiming to enhance our delivery further.
Explain about the channel model or a distribution model in place for your solutions to grow your business.
We have an aggressive roadmap for 2013 to bring more innovations to our customers. One of the major thrusts for 2013 is to expand our channel in India.
We have a 3 pronged channel strategy, to maximize getting to broad range of consumers:
We are present on various e-commerce websites, and we are continuously bringing more e-commerce partners online.
We are addressing both organized and unorganized retail segments, and continuously expanding our regional distributors to reach both Tier1 and Tier2 cities.
We are also expanding our reach in B2B channels, like ISPs and service providers that can deliver value added services over our products.
We run various promotional offers for end customers and channel partners from time-to-time, and we have great channel offers in the pipeline for Holi and Financial Year end. There are also channel incentive plans for achieving defined targets.
What is the role of a channel partner in the business ecosystem?
Recruiting channel partners can be critical for a business. Channels are the means by which you sell products to your customers. Selling direct is also an option, but it may not yield the highest return for your company, so you may want to recruit channel partners to help you go to market. The reasons for having partners may be to decrease costs, enter markets, complete your solution, or account penetration. Indirect channels come in many types, such as resellers, value added resellers, distributors, independent software vendors and others, and they all perform differently.
What were the business strategies and marketing strategies employed?
We are doing a broad outreach to all the media partners to get recognized and established as key player in the market. And it's good to see the response on product reviews from various media outlets. That helps us establish a base. We are continuously refining our target customer demographics based on sales, and we are taking the approach of targeting the right audience with appropriate digital marketing tools.
