WeP enters transaction printing space

Realizing the immense potential that the transaction printing business holds, especially driven by the retail segment, WeP Peripherals has introduced a 40-column bill printer TX40. This is the first attempt by the company to compete in a market largely commanded by the likes of Epson and TVSE. It is currently test-marketing this printer and would be making it commercially available within three months. 

WeP would be initially targeting large retail outlets with this offering and further plans to come out with variations to suit the needs of far smaller retail outlets (like grocery, pharma, etc) in small towns and cities. "There are over 18 lakh retail establishments in the country and we see a huge market potential for this kind of product," reasons WeP Peripherals' Chief Marketing Officer, Raghavendra
Prakash. 

According to him, the first model will enable customers for receipt and coupon printing and will hold a substantial price-advantage over other competitive offerings. "The pricing for TX40 would be sub-Rs 10K and we would carry a great price advantage for our customers," he informs. These printers are being manufactured at company's Hyderabad facility. 

The company has also hinted at adding multi-lingual capabilities into the future models, much on the lines of what TVSE has done with its Proton range of bill printers. "We already possess the language software capabilities for our other printers. It's just a matter of porting it to these new models," adds Raghavendra. In order to aggressively pitch TX40 in market, WeP will tap partners addressing the retail segment and ones selling 80 column impact printers. 

TVSE, on the other hand has welcomed such a move saying that this will help the market grow as there is a vast opportunity still lying untapped. "I am sure there's enough of potential to tap in the transaction printing space and a new entrant will only help create more awareness," remarks TVSE director SS
