After years of lying low, Mumbai-based Compuage Infocom has finally come out of the
shadows for a purpose. "The distribution house recently launched a campaign named as
‘Destination India’, which is aimed at reaching out and bringing the various
elements of the IT industry together," said Atul Mehta, CMD, Compuage Infocom Ltd.

Compuage Infocom’s principals come out in full support of its ‘Destination
India’ initiative
Altruism and clichés aside, this move is targeted more at helping Compuage attain its
goal of reaching a turnover of Rs 2,000 crore by 2010. And Mehta believes that
geographical expansion is one of the means of achieving this goal.
"Presently we are based in 37 cities. Shortly, we plan to be present in 60 cities
by the end of 2010. We have launched a campaign called ‘Destination India’,
using it as a medium to reach partners in these cities," he claimed.
A growth of 100 percent means you would be growing at a pace much faster than the
industry itself, which sounds too optimistic. But Mehta is confident of achieving it with
a three-point plan. Besides geographic expansion he noted that Compuage would add new
brands to its portfolio. He added that Compuage would distribute brands like HP’s
printers and scanners very soon.
When asked will geographic and manpower expansion mean more investments, which in turn
will reduce the topline of the company, Mehta maintained that unless one invests in
one’s business, human resources, infrastructure, etc, there is no way one can grow.
"I believe that it is money that attracts money. So our investment plans are keeping
in line our growth plans as well."
