Christened 'PocketSurfer', the company is positioning
this bluetooth enabled mobile access device for the end customers who always
look forward to getting mobile Internet experience. "This device provides
desktop quality web experience to the consumers without connecting to a cellular
phone or plugging into a landline modem," explained Harjinder Singh, CEO
(India Operations) and Senior VP, Datawind.

The company is already partnering with two North India
focused distributors, Savi Vision and Chandigarh-based Obeco Merchants. Moving
forward it expects to work closely with more than 40 regional distributors
spread all across the country.

"We are working with two distributors as of now and are
looking at having more regional focused distributors and resellers in the Indian
sub-continent. So far the response is really good and we have got a pre-launch
business of 1,000 devices in India. We expect to sell 15,000 to 20,000 of these
products every year," Singh added.

The company is specifically looking forward to selling the
product in segments like the government and enterprise. "Today, there is a
lot of emphasis by the government to provide proper connectivity in not only the
big cities but small and very small locations as well. This is an ideal product
than can be taken to small places easily. So we hope that government would be a
big segment for us. Additionally, we would also be focusing towards the
enterprise segment as a product like this will certainly increase the
productivity levels of employees working in any organization," he
explained.
