Work Hard, Party Harder!

"I am feeling very glad and overwhelmed as you are writing my story in your esteemed magazine", delightfully began Amit Roy, owner, Meghnad Comware Services, who shared his success story with DQ Channels.

Initial Days
Amit Roy was born in Kolkata and completed his schooling from ‘Glenhill Public School', Darjeeling. He is a graduate in business and commerce. Roy spent some years in Bhagalpur since his father used to live there. "We were bestowed with a title of ‘Roy Bahadurs' by the locals of Bhagalpur and we were very famous there as my late father and grandfather were doctors by profession," said Roy whose mother is a house-maker and his wife works for HCL. She also looks after his business when he is away on tour.

Career take-off
Roy started working since his college days. He began his career with ‘Godrej' as its authorized dealer and soon managed to start his own business in the domain of ‘electronic typewriters' and its consumables. He simultaneously stepped into phone repairing business as it was very much in demand at that time, yielding higher rate of profit margins. "Things started to turn well in my favor when I became the authorized dealer for Godrej Tele-mate range," said Roy. Moving up on radar, he further entered into hardware segment, selling computers and printers and got into the dealership of Epson printers.

Achievements
He achieved every milestone that came his way after getting associated with XEROX and emerged as the partner in the business. Within very short span of time, he became the highest seller of all times for XEROX and was named as ‘Gold Partner' by Xerox plus. The man is also a ‘STAR' performer of ‘TALLY'.

Integrity is the right mantra
Roy says, "My success mantra has been very simple, be honest with the people you interact, be it suppliers, customers or any other person as I believe honesty is the simplest thing one can do to get things moving swiftly. Always give best of services to the customers and they will not have problems with payments even when your rates are a bit higher than others (in case of old clients)." Time management, being updated in all respects with new products and innovative changes in the market are few other advices that Roy gives to the young entrepreneurs. He completely believes in hardwork and practice. "Passion for work and hard work really pays you off," he says.

Threats and Dare
"Since I don't come from a business family, it was a dare for me to get into things which I am not familiar with. My late father was a doctor and so was my grand and great grandfather. Being in a service family, procuring capital was the major task and my mother wanted me to carry on with my studies. She did not want me to work or start a business. But after the sad demise of my father, I took the decision to do something for my family. I started upgrading myself to a great extent in all respects. The best way of getting the training is attending the conferences, meets or seminars organized by respected companies on the up-gradation of the product line and its features which helped me a lot," recalls Roy.

Personal life
"Work hard and party harder! I just love partying," says Roy when queried about his hobbies and likings. "I still remember my drawing room transforming into a disco when I used to come home from my school on Saturday evenings. Roy enjoys every moment of life with his loved ones. On weekends, he enjoys going to clubs and discos with his loving wife and friends. "Since I am a member of business chambers, I do interact with so called hi-fi people like ministers or celebrities which I love in my way," he added. Roy loves music ghazals by Jagjit Singh.

Future Plans
"IT sector has become a competitive market. With very little margin, I have started a new Event Company in the name of "Rick Pick Events Entertainment Unlimited (rickpick.com). Now my new challenge is to be in the top 3 or top 5 companies in the next 5 years," Roy concluded.
