Kolkata-based Xenitis Infotech is launching new models of laptops and
desktops. Speaking about the launch Indrajit Chandra, President, Xenitis
Infotech said, "Our effort is always to give the best and the latest
offerings to our customers." The company will be launching five new models
of laptops based on Intel processor and motherboard, including its sub Rs 20K
laptop. "The Intel Celeron-based model will be priced at Rs 19,990,"
Chandra indicated.
The sub 20k laptop that has been christened, Xuva T14WN and will be an
addition to the existing 'Xuva' portfolio that the company has in the market.
Targeted at students and professionals, the laptop has Intel Celeron M 1.4Ghz
(360), 256MB RAM, 80GB HD, combo 3-in-1 card reader, Intel 945GM Chip Set, and
14.1-inch WXGA LCD.
Available at all dealer outlets, the laptop can be upgraded as per users'
requirements. Before the laptop, Xenitis was the first company to introduce sub
Rs 10K PC based on Via platform. On the anvil is a sub Rs 10K desktop based on
the Intel Celeron processor. Chandra also mentioned that Xenitis is targeting a
turnover of Rs 950 crore for the ongoing fiscal and in the next one year it will
start manufacturing RAM, motherboards and laptop barebones as well.
"In the last one year we have made certain changes in our company
structure and work area. One major change is our increased focus on
manufacturing," said Chandra. According to him, the company has redesigned
its outlook and has recognized its core area to be manufacturing rather than
brand selling. "We have a huge infrastructure as far as manufacturing is
concerned and we are now fully utilizing the plant for the same," he added.
Presently, Xenitis manufactures desktops and PC components like cabinets,
speakers, mouse and keyboard. They also sell the Amar PC desktop range in
Eastern India, which in the rest of the country is sold as Xenitis PC. That
apart they also sell cabinets under the brand name Xtreme. However, the company
has shifted its prime focus to manufacturing, and as per Xenitis the ratio of
its OEM sale to that of own brand is 80:20.
According to Chandra, this renewed focus has helped the company in a big way.
"Previously, by selling our own brand we had a limited market share since
there are other local competitors and MNC brands which cater to 50 percent of
the PC market in India and the rest 50 percent is fed by assembled PCs. But now,
as an OEM supplier, we have been able to capture a wider market share which has
substantially increased our sales volume," he informed. The company is
currently enjoying its new role as the key OEM supplier for renowned Indian PC
and component brands. "We are also OEM suppliers to countries like Nepal,
Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Our objective is to become the leading
manufacture in APAC region," stated Chandra. The unit is producing an
average 1.30-lakh units of cabinets per month with two manpower shifts.
"From December onwards the production capacity will increase to over two
lakh units per month since we are introducing one more shift in the plant. We
will also introducing 40 new models of cabinets," informed Chandra.
