Plumage and Huntkey partnership targets India’s power manufacturing

India’s electronics manufacturing opportunity is moving beyond finished devices, with power infrastructure becoming another area for local production. The Plumage and Huntkey partnership aims to build that opportunity around power adapters, power supplies, chargers and other power conversion products.

Plumage Solutions and Shenzhen Huntkey Electric will jointly develop, localise, manufacture, market and commercialise these products in India. Manufacturing is planned to begin in Puducherry in October 2026, with an initial annual capacity of 1 million units.

Power adapters manufacturing India gets a local push

The partnership brings together Huntkey’s product portfolio, technology and engineering expertise with Plumage’s manufacturing infrastructure and knowledge of the Indian electronics ecosystem.

The immediate focus is the IT hardware market, while the companies also plan to serve international customers. This gives the initiative a broader role than domestic supply alone, with India being positioned as a manufacturing and sourcing base for global OEM customers.

Huntkey power supplies India plans wider localisation

A major part of the partnership is the gradual localisation of the supply chain. This will include product customisation, engineering development and greater use of locally manufactured components.

The companies plan to localise components such as chassis, EMI shielding parts, PCBAs and other eligible sub-assemblies in line with applicable Make in India electronics and PLI Scheme 2.0 for IT Hardware requirements.

That approach could also allow the product range and manufacturing scale to expand over time rather than remaining limited to an initial set of products.

Power products manufacturing gets a longer roadmap

The planned Puducherry operation starts with 1 million units annually, but the partnership points to a longer-term manufacturing roadmap covering a wider range of power products.

For the Indian electronics ecosystem, the focus is therefore not only on increasing production capacity. It is also on building engineering, component localisation and supply-chain capabilities around power products.

The Plumage and Huntkey partnership ultimately brings together product technology and local manufacturing with the stated aim of serving both Indian and international markets. The next phase will be about how quickly that localisation expands across products, components and production scale.
