STPI Tech Summit 2026 Reveals India’s Next Goal

The STPI Tech Summit 2026, held alongside STPI's 35th Foundation Day in New Delhi, was more than a celebration of a milestone. The event highlighted how India's technology ecosystem is evolving, with increasing attention on AI, deep-tech innovation, startup growth and regional technology development.

Bringing together government leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and ecosystem enablers, the summit focused on a central question: how can India move from being a technology executor to becoming a technology originator?

A 35-Year Journey Meets Future Ambitions

Addressing the gathering, Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, pointed to the role of initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission and India Semiconductor Mission in opening new opportunities for research, manufacturing and innovation.

The message throughout the event was clear. India's digital future will depend not only on technology adoption but also on building capabilities in innovation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, highlighted STPI's role in connecting entrepreneurs, mentors, venture capitalists and industry stakeholders across the country. He noted that these networks have helped extend innovation beyond established technology hubs and into emerging regions.

Startups and AI Take Centre Stage

One of the key announcements at the summit was the launch of Sayuj, an AI-enabled mobile application designed to connect startups, innovators, incubators, mentors and ecosystem stakeholders through a single digital platform.

The platform aims to simplify startup discovery, collaboration and access to incubation support, reflecting the growing importance of connected innovation ecosystems.

The summit also saw the launch of Open Challenge Programmes by STPI NERVE CoE, Nagpur and STPI SmartAgri CoE, Chhattisgarh. These initiatives are intended to help startups access mentorship, market opportunities and support for innovative technology solutions.

Looking Beyond Metro Cities

A recurring theme throughout the event was the importance of expanding innovation opportunities across Tier-II and Tier-III regions.

According to Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI, the organisation has supported more than 1,700 startups through its network of 73 centres. Initiatives such as Centres of Entrepreneurship, the Next Generation Incubation Scheme and the Leap Ahead programme continue to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems.

The discussions also reinforced the need for collaboration among government, industry, investors and academia to create the next generation of globally competitive technology companies.

The Bigger Message

The STPI Tech Summit 2026 was ultimately about preparing for India's next technology chapter. While the event celebrated STPI's 35-year contribution to the digital economy, the conversations focused firmly on the future—AI, deep-tech innovation, entrepreneurship and the growing ambition to build technology products and solutions from India for global markets.
