Snowflake Report Shows India Leading Gen AI ROI

Snowflake has released a global research report examining the return on investment from generative AI and emerging AI agents across enterprises. The study, conducted in collaboration with Omdia, surveyed 2,050 business and technology leaders across ten countries who influence their organizations’ AI purchasing strategies.

According to the report, India has emerged as one of the leading markets for generative AI adoption, ranking among the top three globally alongside the United States and Germany. The findings indicate that Indian organisations are not only adopting AI technologies rapidly but are also reporting stronger operational and financial outcomes compared with global averages.

Higher ROI from Generative AI in India

The research found that 71 percent of Indian respondents reported measurable returns from their generative AI investments. This figure is notably higher than the global average of 61 percent.

Additionally, 42 percent of organisations in India indicated that they are already deploying generative AI across multiple use cases. These deployments span both technology and business functions, suggesting that generative AI tools are moving beyond experimentation into broader operational use.

AI Integration Across Enterprise Functions

The report highlights that Indian organisations are embedding generative AI across several core enterprise functions at higher rates than global averages.

Key areas of adoption include:

  • IT operations: 76 percent in India compared with 61 percent globally

  • Data analytics: 75 percent versus 57 percent globally

  • Cybersecurity: 69 percent versus 52 percent globally

  • Software development: 65 percent versus 48 percent globally

  • Customer service: 58 percent versus 48 percent globally

  • Sales: 41 percent versus 31 percent globally

These results indicate that generative AI technologies are increasingly integrated into operational workflows and decision-making processes across Indian enterprises.

Impact on Software Development and IT Operations

The report also highlights the role of generative AI in transforming India’s technology ecosystem, particularly in software development and IT services.

Among Indian respondents:

  • 77 percent reported using AI to generate code, compared with 64 percent globally

  • 76 percent use AI tools for code review and debugging, versus 65 percent globally

  • 66 percent apply AI to IT or cybersecurity incident response, compared with 54 percent globally

  • 68 percent use AI to configure and optimise infrastructure, compared with 58 percent globally

These capabilities are helping organisations automate engineering tasks, accelerate development cycles, and improve system reliability.

Business Outcomes from AI Investments

Beyond operational improvements, the research suggests that generative AI initiatives are delivering measurable business results in India.

Respondents reported several key benefits:

  • 94 percent cited improved operational efficiency compared with 87 percent globally

  • 92 percent reported increased innovation compared with 83 percent globally

  • 86 percent reported improved financial performance versus 75 percent globally

These outcomes indicate that Indian organisations are increasingly translating AI adoption into measurable business value.

Growing Investment in AI Initiatives

The report also highlights strong future investment in generative AI initiatives across India. Enterprises in the country plan to allocate approximately 28 percent of their technology budgets to generative AI over the next twelve months. This figure represents the highest share among all countries surveyed, exceeding the global average of 22 percent.

Adoption of agentic AI systems is also accelerating. According to the study, 66 percent of Indian organisations are already using or planning to implement AI agents within the next year, compared with 56 percent globally.

Snowflake is supporting this shift toward AI-assisted development through tools such as Cortex Code, an AI-powered coding agent designed to help developers build applications using enterprise data.

Methodology

The report, titled The ROI of Gen AI and Agents,” is based on responses from 2,050 business and technology leaders across ten markets including Australia and New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The survey was conducted between August 13 and September 17, 2025, and focused on decision-makers who influence their organisations’ current and future AI purchasing strategies.
