Vertiv acquires King Environmental to strengthen EMEA cooling

AI and high-density computing are putting more pressure on data centre cooling systems, making what happens after infrastructure is designed increasingly important. Vertiv is responding by expanding its field capabilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa through the acquisition of King Environmental Services Ltd. (KES).

The agreement adds fluid management, commissioning and load-testing services for high-density, liquid-cooled data centres and other applications to Vertiv’s existing portfolio.

Global fluid management moves into EMEA

KES brings capabilities covering system preparation, performance validation, monitoring, maintenance and lifecycle optimisation. Its services include flushing, filtration, water treatment and commissioning, along with thermal load testing for liquid cooling infrastructure and electrical load testing for critical power systems.

For Vertiv, the deal extends a strategy already taking shape in North America. The company acquired PurgeRite in December 2025, establishing a fluid management base in the region. KES is expected to build a similar capability across EMEA.

Thermal management services become more important

The timing reflects a challenge created by rising computing density. As AI and high-performance computing workloads generate more heat, liquid cooling is becoming increasingly important, while fluid quality can directly affect thermal performance and equipment life.

Contamination, trapped air, corrosion, incorrect chemistry and flow imbalances can reduce heat-transfer efficiency and create commissioning or operational risks. That means thermal management services increasingly extend beyond installing cooling equipment to preparing, testing and maintaining the systems around it.

KES also brings load-testing capabilities that can help validate infrastructure before facilities enter operation. Thermal load testing can assess liquid cooling infrastructure, while electrical load testing covers critical power systems.
