Agile Robots acquires XNG Automation to scale AI robotics

Agile Robots acquires XNG Automation, strengthening its presence in India's fast-growing manufacturing sector. By combining AI-powered robotics with local factory automation expertise, the company aims to help manufacturers accelerate their shift towards intelligent, AI-enabled production while expanding its reach across the country.

Agile Robots in India gains pace 

The acquisition gives Agile Robots India fresh momentum for expansion. XNG Automation, headquartered in Bengaluru with around 200 employees, brings expertise in factory automation, intralogistics, system integration and machine vision. The partnership allows Agile Robots to deliver its robotics hardware and software through XNG's established customer network.

Rory Sexton, Executive Director at Agile Robots, said the investment strengthens the company's position in India's growing manufacturing market by combining advanced robotics with XNG's local integration capabilities.

Agile Robots' manufacturing in India marks growth

Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Agile Robots has deployed more than 20,000 robotic systems worldwide across consumer electronics and automotive industries. Its portfolio includes the Agile Hand and the industrial humanoid Agile ONE, reflecting its focus on Physical AI for production environments.

Rakesh Bhat, CEO of XNG Automation, said the collaboration gives the company access to global manufacturing expertise and resources while helping it scale faster across India. The Agile Robots XNG Automation majority stake also expands opportunities to support manufacturers looking to modernise production.

Bengaluru investment expands the company's reach 

The investment builds on Agile Robots' Bengaluru investment made in 2024, when the company opened a production facility in Chennai and established its regional headquarters in Bengaluru. XNG Automation has worked with customers including Bosch and Toyota, giving Agile Robots stronger access to India's expanding industrial base.

As Agile Robots acquires XNG Automation, the deal highlights how Factory automation acquisitions in India are becoming an important strategy for global robotics companies seeking long-term growth. With manufacturing investments rising, partnerships that combine advanced AI with local engineering expertise are expected to play a bigger role in the country's industrial transformation.
