Barracuda Acquires Evo Security to Strengthen Identity Resilience

As identity-based cyberattacks become more sophisticated, organizations are looking for security platforms that reduce complexity instead of adding more tools. Barracuda acquires Evo Security to strengthen its identity security capabilities, bringing identity and access management (IAM) deeper into the BarracudaONE platform. The move reflects a growing focus on unified cyber resilience, particularly for managed service providers (MSPs) that manage thousands of customer environments.

A Unified Approach to Identity Security

The acquisition combines Evo Security's identity and access management technology with Barracuda's existing identity-driven security controls. Together, they create a single platform that brings privileged access management, access control, identity protection, and identity threat detection into one environment.

Rather than requiring organizations to manage multiple disconnected security tools, the integrated platform is designed to simplify deployment while giving MSPs a single multi-tenant environment to manage identity resilience at scale. The announcement comes as investment in identity and access management continues to grow worldwide, highlighting the increasing importance of protecting both human and non-human identities.

Addressing New AI-Era Security Challenges

Barracuda believes the rapid adoption of AI is changing the cybersecurity landscape by increasing the speed and scale of identity-focused attacks. According to the company, the combination of BarracudaONE and Evo Security is intended to help organizations respond with easier-to-manage identity security while reducing operational complexity.

The acquisition also expands BarracudaONE's four-layer identity security architecture, covering identity and privilege management, least-privilege access through Zero Trust Network Access, Microsoft Entra ID backup and recovery, and identity-based threat detection using Managed XDR.

Built Around MSP Operations

A key focus of the acquisition is the managed services market. Evo Security was developed specifically for MSPs, and its technology is designed to simplify authentication, privileged access, and identity management across users, devices, and endpoints. By integrating these capabilities into BarracudaONE, partners gain broader identity protection without replacing their existing security environments.

Barracuda confirmed that Evo Security's team has joined the company, and existing Evo Security MSP customers will continue to receive support as the platform evolves.
