Check Point Under Pressure 2026 Exposure Gap Report Highlights Rising Cyber Risks

Organizations today face more cyber exposures than ever, but the real challenge is deciding which ones demand immediate attention. The Check Point Under Pressure 2026 Exposure Gap Report highlights how AI-driven attacks are widening the gap between identifying vulnerabilities and fixing the ones that truly matter.

More Vulnerabilities, But Not All Need Immediate Action

The report found that critical vulnerability exposures more than doubled over the past year, rising from 18.7% to 42.6% of all critical exposures. Yet only 7.8% of vulnerability alerts were validated as Critical or High after exploitability assessment.

This points to a growing prioritization challenge. Security teams are dealing with increasing alert volumes, while only a small fraction requires urgent remediation. Without effective Threat Exposure Management, organizations risk spending valuable time on low-priority issues while attackers exploit genuine weaknesses.

AI Is Changing the Speed of Cyber Attacks

According to Check Point Software Technologies, automation and AI-assisted attack tools now allow threat actors to scan exposed systems, credentials, phishing infrastructure, and vulnerabilities across multiple organizations at unprecedented speed.

This has shortened the time defenders have to identify, validate, and remediate exposures before they become business-impacting incidents.

Industry Risks Are Becoming More Specialized

The report shows that cyber exposure patterns differ widely across industries.

Utilities and Government recorded the highest concentration of vulnerability-related exposures, while Healthcare and Financial Services were more affected by internal information disclosure. Healthcare also reported the slowest remediation time, reflecting operational constraints despite maintaining strong implementation rates.

Meanwhile, phishing websites emerged as one of the fastest-growing exposure categories, increasing from just 1% to 10.5% of critical exposures within a year.

Faster Prioritization Delivers Better Outcomes

Despite growing attack volumes, organizations successfully implemented 85.9% of recommended fixes across industries. Some sectors resolved critical exposures within hours, demonstrating that evidence-based prioritization and streamlined remediation workflows can significantly reduce cyber risk.
