The recent FAIITA and UPCDWA strategic brand discussions in Lucknow highlighted the growing urgency to address challenges facing India's offline IT hardware channel. Bringing together leading brands including HP, Lenovo, Dell, Acer, and ASUS, the discussions reflected a broader industry effort to create a more balanced and sustainable business environment as the sector moves into FY 2026-27.

 

Industry concerns take centre stage

Held on 8–9 June 2026, the meetings focused on several issues that continue to impact dealers across the country. Representatives from FAIITA and UPCDWA raised concerns around price disparity, declining margins, inventory pressures, working capital challenges, and the growing impact of aggressive online pricing practices.

The associations stressed that offline partners remain critical to customer engagement, service delivery, and brand visibility. According to participants, maintaining a healthy dealer ecosystem is essential for long-term market stability and sustainable growth.

Brands respond with assurances

During the discussions, participating brands acknowledged several of the concerns raised by channel partners. Conversations covered areas such as price parity, dealer protection mechanisms, inventory support, affordability programs, profitability initiatives, activation support, exclusive channel offerings, service integration, and the evaluation of O2O and OMO business models.

The dialogue indicated a willingness from both sides to work toward solutions that strengthen channel confidence while improving market conditions. Detailed Minutes of the meeting have already been shared with participating brands, with formal responses requested by 25 June 2026.

A critical moment for the IT channel

From an industry perspective, the discussions signal a shift toward deeper collaboration between brands and channel partners. The emphasis on fair pricing practices, stronger partner programs, and sustainable profitability reflects concerns that extend beyond individual businesses and affect the broader IT retail ecosystem.

The conversations also highlight the increasing importance of creating predictable business conditions for dealers who continue to face pressure from changing market dynamics and online competition.
