Announced on September 15, 2026, the agreement will see Sonata and AWS pursue a joint go-to-market strategy focused on cloud and AI transformation opportunities across the Indian market.

Under the agreement, Sonata will invest in dedicated AWS-focused sales, presales, technical and delivery capabilities. The company will also expand joint go-to-market activities across BFSI, retail, manufacturing, IT and healthcare.

Sonata to expand AWS-focused capabilities

The collaboration will allow Sonata to leverage AWS programmes including the Migration Acceleration Program and Managed Services Program. These programmes are intended to support complex cloud transformation projects and help customers move from legacy technology environments to modern Cloud architectures.

According to the companies, these efforts are aimed at helping enterprises improve resilience, increase operational agility and build scalable foundations for digital and AI-led transformation.

The five-year agreement is also expected to support larger and more complex engagements as Indian organisations increase their investments in cloud-led modernisation.

Sujit Mohanty, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sonata Software’s Domestic Business (SITL), said: “This five-year collaboration with AWS represents an important step in advancing our cloud business in India. It will allow us to deepen our AWS capabilities, engage customers earlier in their transformation journeys, and address more strategic opportunities. Our focus is on helping enterprises modernise technology environments in ways that deliver measurable business outcomes”.

For Sonata, the five years is intended to provide a longer-term framework for developing its AWS practice and aligning technical and go-to-market resources with customer requirements.

The company said its investments in building the AWS business, as a premier AWS partner, have positioned it for growth, with the SCA serving as a core mechanism for this expansion.

Praveen Sridhar, Head of Partner and ISV Business, AWS India and South Asia, said: “Enterprises in India are at an inflexion point in their cloud journeys — moving beyond initial adoption to modernise critical workloads and build foundations for AI-driven innovation. This collaboration with Sonata brings together deep modernisation engineering expertise and AWS cloud services to help customers accelerate these complex transformations. Together, we aim to make it easier for organisations to move from legacy environments to scalable, modern architectures that unlock new business value.”
