HCLTech Guardian partnership expands with seven-year AI Deal
HCLTech has signed a new seven-year agreement with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, significantly expanding an existing relationship focused on AI-driven modernisation. Rather than limiting the engagement to technology services, the partnership now extends across operations, engineering, data, and talent transformation.
The move reflects how insurers are increasingly combining AI with long-term operational change instead of treating automation as a standalone initiative.
AI Becomes the Centrepiece of Modernisation
The expanded collaboration aims to improve efficiency, accelerate value delivery, and simplify customer and advisor experiences. HCLTech will use its AI Service Transformation Platform, AI Force, to build agentic AI capabilities aligned with Guardian's operating model.
The focus is not just on introducing AI tools but on creating a scalable delivery model that supports future business growth while reducing operational friction.
Talent Integration Strengthens the Partnership
A key part of the agreement is HCLTech's acquisition of Guardian India, the company's global capability centre. Nearly 2,000 employees will join HCLTech, forming a dedicated Strategic Business Unit focused exclusively on Guardian.
This creates a long-term delivery structure where technology expertise, engineering capabilities, and operational knowledge remain closely aligned with Guardian's business priorities.
A Longer-Term Industry Signal
The announcement highlights how enterprise partnerships are evolving. Instead of outsourcing isolated IT functions, organisations are increasingly building strategic collaborations that combine AI innovation, domain expertise, and workforce integration under a single operating model.
