SentinelOne Murali Urs appointment reshapes channel strategy

SentinelOne has appointed Murali Urs as Director and Head of Channel Sales for India and SAARC, giving its regional partner strategy a new layer of leadership. The move comes as the cybersecurity vendor looks to expand its partner ecosystem and strengthen local coverage.

A new focus on channel leadership

Urs brings nearly 30 years of technology sales experience across India and SAARC, including more than two decades in cybersecurity. His background also spans work with resellers, distributors and enterprise customers.

That experience could be important as SentinelOne builds out its channel operation. The company is not treating the appointment as a standalone leadership change. It is also recruiting two additional Channel Managers to cover the North and South regions.

The structure suggests a more local approach to channel engagement, with Urs taking the wider regional mandate while dedicated managers add coverage on the ground.

Building deeper partner coverage

For SentinelOne's channel partners, the change is less about a new title and more about how the vendor plans to support its ecosystem. Additional regional coverage can bring channel conversations closer to partners and customers across different markets.

Anand Krishnan, Director and Head of Channel & Alliances Sales, SAARC & Asia, said Urs brings a respected and proactive approach to partnerships, along with experience in handling complex operational challenges.

The appointment therefore adds another layer to SentinelOne's channel leadership while the company continues to expand its regional presence.

What it means for the partner ecosystem

The SentinelOne Murali Urs appointment also points to a broader shift in the company's India channel strategy. Instead of relying only on its existing partner relationships, SentinelOne appears to be investing in the structure needed to manage and grow those relationships.

With cybersecurity sales increasingly strong reseller and distributor networks, local channel coverage can become an important part of execution.

For partners across India and SAARC, the key takeaway is clear: SentinelOne is putting more people and regional focus behind its partner ecosystem. The next test will be how effectively that expanded structure translates into deeper channel engagement and business opportunities.
