WSO2 new CEO Harry Ault joins amid AI expansion

WSO2 has appointed Harry Ault as its new Chief Executive Officer, making the WSO2 new CEO appointment a notable leadership change as the company expands its focus on AI governance, agentic enterprises and its open-source ecosystem.

Ault takes over day-to-day leadership immediately and will work with the executive team to advance WSO2’s strategy and engagement with its global customer base. The appointment follows a year of changes to the senior leadership team, including new appointments for the CFO and CMO roles.

WSO2 leadership appointment comes as AI plans expand

The timing of the WSO2 leadership appointment is notable because the company is moving its Trusted AI Governance vision forward through the WSO2 Agentic Enterprise Fabric (AEF).

The platform brings together API management, integration, identity, engineering and agent platforms. WSO2 says the approach is designed to extend governance to both AI agents and the foundation on which they run.

That puts AI governance among the key areas Ault will need to help shape as he begins his tenure.

Harry Ault brings a revenue and growth background

Ault joins WSO2 after serving as Chief Revenue Officer at SambaNova Systems, where he led global sales, marketing, field engineering and global support.

His career spans more than 20 years across revenue leadership, strategic partnerships, corporate development and go-to-market strategy. He has also worked on M&A integrations and growth strategies across different industries.

For WSO2, that experience brings a strong commercial angle to its next phase. The company says it has more than 700 enterprise customers, giving Ault an established base as he takes on the CEO role.

Open source software leadership gets a new direction

Ault has also pointed to the importance of WSO2’s open-source roots. He said his priorities include deepening engagement with the open-source community, expanding the global partner ecosystem and increasing WSO2’s value for customers and developers.

That focus matters as WSO2 positions itself around organisations becoming AI-driven and agentic. The company’s stated aim is to help them make that transition with greater speed and control without adding complexity.

WSO2 executive leadership change follows transition

The WSO2 new CEO succeeds founder and former CEO Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarana, who stepped down in May 2026. WSO2 Chief Revenue Officer Devaka Randeniya served as Acting CEO during the transition and will continue working closely with Ault.

The leadership handover therefore comes with a broader mandate of growing the business, strengthening partnerships and pushing WSO2’s AI governance vision while maintaining its open-source positioning.
