Commvault and Google partnership strengthens cyber recovery intelligence

Recovering after a cyberattack is no longer just about restoring backups. It's about knowing which data can actually be trusted. The Commvault and Google partnership aims to solve that challenge by integrating Google Threat Intelligence into Commvault Threat Scan workflows, helping organisations identify clean recovery points faster and reduce delays during cyber recovery.

The collaboration combines Google's threat intelligence with Commvault's recovery capabilities, giving enterprises more confidence when deciding which backup data is safe to restore.

Commvault Cloud Threat Scan gains Google Threat Intelligence Mandiant

One of the biggest challenges after a cyberattack is validating backup data before recovery begins. Security teams may identify indicators of compromise quickly, but recovery teams still need to confirm that recovery points are free from malware.

Through the integration, Commvault Cloud Threat Scan uses intelligence from Google Threat Intelligence, Mandiant, VirusTotal and Google's broader threat ecosystem to analyse protected workloads, identify compromised recovery points and provide additional threat context for investigation and remediation.

Threat Intelligence integration adds smarter recovery

The Commvault and Google partnership also introduces inline scanning that collects file hashes during backup operations. These digital fingerprints allow organisations to compare backup data against known threat indicators and identify clean files more efficiently.

The Commvault Google Threat Intelligence integration follows a layered approach. Teams can begin with rapid threat validation before performing deeper malware, encryption or forensic analysis only when required. This helps reduce recovery delays without compromising confidence in restored data.

These capabilities also strengthen Commvault Synthetic Recovery, an AI-enabled process that automatically detects threats and removes malicious content during recovery while preserving clean business data.
