Ericsson appoints Randeep Raina as Vi partnership enters new phase

Leadership transitions often reveal where a company wants to focus next. Ericsson appoints Randeep Raina as Head of Customer Unit Vodafone Idea (Vi), placing an experienced telecom executive at the centre of one of its most important customer relationships in India. He succeeds Krishna Patil, who has been appointed Executive Advisor to Andres Vicente.
The appointment comes as Ericsson and Vi continue working together on network evolution and digital transformation. While the announcement focuses on leadership, it also reflects Ericsson's effort to align experienced technology leaders with key customer relationships.
A leader with telecom and technology experience
Before joining Ericsson, Randeep Raina led Telco and Strategic Partnerships at Google India. Earlier, he served as Chief Technology and Strategy Officer at Nokia Networks India. Across more than 27 years, his experience has spanned technology, strategy, sales and business development.
In his new position, he will lead Ericsson's engagement with Vodafone Idea, supporting the operator's network evolution and the rollout of next-generation connectivity solutions. The Ericsson Vodafone Idea partnership remains central to this responsibility as both companies continue expanding their collaboration.
Ericsson and Vi continue their long-term network journey
Ericsson said its collaboration with Vodafone Idea extends beyond traditional network deployment. The companies have recently worked together on cloud-native charging solutions for postpaid services while continuing 4G and 5G network expansion, capacity upgrades and AI-powered operations.
According to Ericsson, Ericsson appoints Randeep Raina at a time when India's digital transformation is gathering pace. The company believes his leadership experience and customer-focused approach will help strengthen engagement with Vi and support its future network ambitions.
The announcement also acknowledges Krishna Patil's contribution in building a trusted relationship between Ericsson and Vodafone Idea over several years.
