Intel and Fortinet partnership targets stronger security chips
The Intel and Fortinet partnership is entering a new phase as the companies collaborate on the development of Fortinet Security Processor 6 (SP6). The expanded relationship brings together Fortinet's experience in purpose-built security processors with Intel's design, packaging and manufacturing capabilities, with a focus on both cybersecurity performance and global supply chain resilience.

Fortinet SP6 development gets a semiconductor push
Fortinet has relied on purpose-built ASICs for more than two decades, using them to deliver security performance and efficiency. The new collaboration is intended to strengthen that approach by combining Fortinet's security processor expertise with Intel's semiconductor technology, manufacturing capabilities and ecosystem IP.
The companies will also draw on Intel's experience in disaggregated semiconductor design and advanced packaging. The goal is to develop a highly integrated processor that can meet the performance needs of modern organisations, including applications that are increasingly AI-enabled and cost-sensitive.
Cybersecurity supply chain resilience becomes a key focus
