Rashi Peripherals joint venture with Restar strengthens semiconductor ambitions

India's semiconductor ambitions are steadily moving from policy to execution. The Rashi Peripherals joint venture with Japan's Restar Corporation reflects that shift by bringing together global semiconductor expertise with an established Indian distribution network.

The partnership will see Rashi Peripherals transfer its semiconductor business into a wholly owned subsidiary based in Bengaluru, with a step-down subsidiary in Singapore. Restar Corporation, a Japanese electronics and technology company, will acquire a 26% stake, while RP Tech will retain 74%. The joint venture is expected to begin operations in October 2026.

Bringing technology and local engineering together

The venture will focus on advanced image sensing solutions for industrial and automotive applications. Beyond product distribution, it also plans to provide localised engineering, product design, and technical support tailored to Indian customers.

The company says the Bengaluru-headquartered business will operate across five major Indian cities. It also plans to strengthen local technical expertise through Japanese-led engineering training, dedicated Field Application Engineering support, and more than 50 engineering hires over the next two years.

Target industries include automotive, industrial robotics, Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), Electronics Component Manufacturing Services (ECMS), enterprise surveillance, machine vision, audio-visual systems, and home appliances.

A broader semiconductor play for India

The Rashi Peripherals joint venture combines Restar's semiconductor relationships, technology expertise, and global reach with RP Tech's nationwide distribution network and customer base. The objective is to speed up semiconductor adoption while supporting localised solution development for Indian manufacturers.

Company executives said the partnership is designed to strengthen India's semiconductor ecosystem by offering both product access and engineering capabilities. The venture also aligns with RP Tech's strategy of expanding its Rashi Peripherals semiconductor business, which began in 2021 and now includes an Embedded Lab in Bengaluru supporting local design and solution development.
